Chris Toppa is one of the hottest newcomers on the German reggae scene. Ever since he fell in love with reggae music, it was his desire to travel to Jamaica and get in contact with the original culture and vibe. After finishing school, he arrived in Kingston in 2011 where he stayed for six months with the local artist Cassafaya. Their combination single „Give Thanks for Life“ was a hit on local radio stations, so that he became the second German artist to play at the legendary Sting Festival. After arriving back home in Germany he started to focus on his career and toured a lot with solo shows and as tour support for big artists like Macka B, Capleton and Tarrus Riley.
The long awaited debut album was produced with Boomrush Backup and reflects his creative work of the recent years. The titel „Connected“ shows his attitude towards life. In a society where most people only focus on themselfs, he tries to give a counterpoint and sees mankind as a whole. The album contains songs about his personal quest for identity and his place in life, but also songs about social issues. His songs are mostly played in a modern roots reggae style. Trying to find a common sense of responsibility on the one hand, he wants to give hope and confidence to the listener on the other.
